Thyrotoxicosis can be defined as hypermetabolic state resulting from an excess of thyroxine(T,) or 3,5,3 triiodcthyronine(T3) or both. In addition to surgery, antithy￢roid drugs must also be considered as potential modes of therapy for these Patients.
The exact role of each form of therapy is a much debated subject.
Diagnosis and selection of therapy will be discussed, followed by a method of pre￢operative preparation and immediate and longterm follow-up care.
We have experienced one case of surgical intervention of toxic diffuse goiter in department of general surgery, Chungnam National University hospital during several years. Here, we present this with brief review of literatures.
